Jim Feldkamp

Naval Flight Officer

Jim Feldkamp, born in Roseburg, Oregon, initiated his impressive career trajectory by completing a BS in Business at Oregon State University. He then entered the U.S. Navy, where he distinguished himself as a naval flight officer. Feldkamp's military roles included serving as Countermeasures Officer and Navigator on the EA-6B and participating in critical missions from the USS Midway during Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991.

 

Following his service in the Navy, Jim transitioned to the FBI, where he served as a Special Agent in Norfolk, Virginia. He was instrumental in establishing the Tidewater Joint Terrorism Task Force and conducted pivotal aerial surveillance operations. His public service path also led him into politics, where he twice ran as the Republican candidate for Oregon's 4th Congressional District in 2004 and 2006.

 

In 2007, James Feldkamp was recalled to active duty to contribute to the development of what would later become the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO). His academic pursuits flourished as he assumed adjunct professor roles at prestigious institutions such as George Washington University, George Mason University, and Georgetown University, where he taught courses on terrorism and security. He is also noted for his scholarly work, including authoring and editing the textbook "Theory and Politics of Terrorism."

 

Currently, Jim serves as the Lead Consultant at Complete Threat Preparedness, Inc., where he provides expert consultancy on security and safety issues. He also works as a freelance editor at Reedsy, focusing his expertise on terrorism and intelligence. His adventurous spirit is demonstrated by his participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race from 2018 to 2022.

 

Feldkamp's involvement at the Office of Global Maritime Situational Awareness has been pivotal in advancing maritime security. His efforts in facilitating strategic partnerships and promoting international information-sharing have markedly improved naval operations.

 

Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim is passionate about extreme sports, including mountain climbing, skiing, scuba diving, and sailing. His participation in challenging events such as the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona and the Clipper Race showcases his dynamic and resilient character. His academic journey is complemented by an MA in International Affairs from The Catholic University of America and advanced strategic education from the U.S. Naval War College.
